Cookie Policy

This page explains how Sentosa Law uses cookies on our website, what each type does, and how you can adjust your preferences at any time. We aim to keep things clear and straightforward.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They help the website remember information about your visit — for example, your language preference or whether you have already acknowledged a notice — so you do not need to repeat the same steps on your next visit.

Cookies are widely used across websites to make them function, to understand how they are used, and, in some cases, to support advertising. They cannot access other files on your device and do not typically contain personally identifiable information by themselves.

2. Cookies We Use

We use four categories of cookies. Essential cookies are always active because they are necessary for the website to work. You may switch the remaining categories on or off using the preference panel in Section 5.

Essential Cookies Always Active

Required for the website to function. They enable core features such as page navigation, security, and your cookie consent record. The website cannot operate correctly without them.

Examples: Session identifiers, cookie consent storage, security tokens.

Duration: Session (cleared when you close your browser) or up to 12 months.

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how visitors use our website — which pages are visited most, how long people spend on the site, and where they come from. This information is aggregated and does not identify individuals. It helps us improve the experience for everyone.

Provider: Google Analytics (anonymised IP). Duration: Up to 26 months.

Marketing Cookies

Used to track the effectiveness of advertising and to help us understand whether promotional content is reaching people who may benefit from our services. We keep this use modest; we do not engage in aggressive retargeting.

Providers: Meta Pixel, Bing Ads. Duration: Up to 90 days.

Preference Cookies

Remember choices you make on the website — such as your language setting or whether you have previously dismissed a notice — so you do not have to repeat them on future visits.

Examples: Language, region, dismissed banners. Duration: Up to 12 months.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some of the cookies on our website are placed by third-party services we have integrated. We do not control the data practices of these providers — their own privacy and cookie policies apply:

Provider Purpose Category
Google Analytics Website usage statistics Analytics
Google Maps Embedded map on contact page Essential
Meta (Facebook) Pixel Advertising effectiveness measurement Marketing
Microsoft Bing Ads Advertising effectiveness measurement Marketing

4. Cookie Duration

Cookies may be session-based or persistent:

Session Cookies

These exist only while your browser is open. They are deleted automatically when you close your browser and are typically used for security or to maintain a browsing session.

Persistent Cookies

These remain on your device for a set period after you close your browser. They allow the site to recognise you on return visits. Duration varies from 30 days to 26 months depending on purpose.

5. Your Cookie Preferences

7. Your Rights and Controls

You have the right to withdraw your consent for optional cookies at any time. You may do this:

Withdrawing consent for optional cookies will not affect the lawfulness of any use that occurred before your withdrawal. It may, however, affect certain aspects of how the site behaves for you — for instance, preferences you have set may not be remembered between visits.

If you have questions about how we use cookies or wish to exercise your rights under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, please write to us at [email protected].
